Pompey Springs Detention Pond:

City Lied About Community Engagement On Project to Replace Natural Wooded Wetlands With a  Treeless $4M Boondoggle.

On a low-lying, tree-covered two acre site on a quiet residential street in south Richmond, the city planned to proceed on a $4M project of questionable purpose after lying about reaching out to area residents and the neighborhood association. Once the plan was discovered by residents, the city failed to respond to inquiries on the wisdom of a project that destroys natural wetlands with water absorption functions only to replace the wetland with an unsightly, expensive project of questionable value developed behind closed doors.

UPDATE: Neighborhood residents called out the city for lying by claiming that they had been informed and consulted on the project. Apparently, after the pushback and the exposure on local TV, the project has been withdrawn for the time being.
